Work begins to make way for our new craft room

The new 'high rise' office begins to take shape
Thanks to your support in the recent Tesco's Witham Bags of Help, we have secured a £4000 grant to create a larger permanent craft room.  Work has already begun on building a new office above our kitchen, toilets and boot room. This will replace our current office on the ground floor and make more space for the larger craft room.  Once the new office is ready, work can then begin on the craft room.
The larger craft room will enable us to cater for more people on our day placements programme and allow for bigger equipment such as, drum carders and a loom.  This will mean we can process more of our Ronaldsay fleece and make more 'sheep to shop' wares.

Our 'sheep to shop' range is quite extensive now and has been developed by Lois, our Wool Craft volunteer, and Tom, a volunteer.  We sell them at Farmers' Markets and craft fairs.  Many of their creations were at the Maeldune Centre's recent 'pop up' Christmas Craft Shop.  They're proving extremely popular and sell really well, so a larger room and bigger equipment will be a very welcome addition.
