Welcome to a hidden gem...…...

We are Lauriston Farm - a charitable community owned social farming business on the Blackwater Estuary in rural Essex. We work alongside people with a learning disability to grow vegetables, raise cattle and sheep, use their wool in the craft room and look after wildlife on this internationally designated piece of land. The farm and all its produce is certified Biodynamic.

We Are Open!

The Farm is busy again with our co-workers and volunteers and you can visit us again for a Farm Walk or join a Workshop.

If you would like to volunteer with Monique and Andre in the vegetable fields, please get in touch.

Biodynamic lamb, mutton and beef is available for home delivery or farm pick-up, so please get in touch if you would like to order some.

Our weekly vegetable box deliveries have stopped for the winter and will resume again in June. Click here for details.

We hope everyone manages to stay healthy, and we look forward to seeing you on the farm very soon.

Spencer Christy
Farm Director

At Lauriston we combine three charitable aims - conservation, education and care for people

BIODYNAMIC AGRICULTURE
Picture
All the food we produce is certified biodynamic.  Two acres of vegetables supplies our box scheme, three markets a month, our farm shop and Farm Direct in London.  We rear rare breeds of sheep and cattle, both of which grow slowly and are 100% pasture fed giving excelptional flavours.  Our sheepskins are turned into luxurious rugs and the wool is milled into knitting yarn - all certified organic.

SOCIAL FARMING
Picture
Taking our inspiration from the Camphill Communities, we offer day placements for adults with a learning or physical disability to work alongside our staff in all aspects of the farm.  This includes cooking daily lunches, horticulture, animal husbandry, wool crafts, gardening and helping in the farm shop and at markets.  We are person centred so individuals can find their interest and a registered AQA Awards training centre.
