Welcome to a hidden gem...…...

Lauriston Farm - a biodynamic social farming business on the Blackwater Estuary in rural Essex. A charitable, community owned farm, we work alongside people with a learning disability to grow biodynamic organic vegetables, raise rare breed cattle and sheep, look after the chickens and work in the craft room. As well as being a vital part of our biodynamic farming system, the animals produce grassfed meat, organic undyed knitting wool and organic sheepskins. We look after wildlife on this internationally designated piece of land. The farm and all its produce is certified Biodynamic.

At Lauriston we combine three charitable aims - conservation, education and care for people

BIODYNAMIC AGRICULTURE
Picture
All the food we produce is certified biodynamic.  Two acres of vegetables supplies our box scheme, three markets a month, our farm shop and Manningtree Wholefood Store.  We rear rare breeds of sheep and cattle, both of which grow slowly and are 100% pasture fed giving exceptional flavours.  Our sheepskins are turned into luxurious rugs and the wool is milled into knitting yarn - all certified organic.
If you'd like to volunteer in the garden, please contact us.

SOCIAL FARMING
Picture
Taking our inspiration from the Camphill Communities, we offer day placements for adults with a learning or physical disability to work alongside our staff in all aspects of the farm.  This includes cooking daily lunches, horticulture, animal husbandry, wool crafts, gardening and helping in the farm shop and at markets.  We are person centred so individuals can find their interest and a registered AQA Awards training centre.
New Co-worker Day Placements Available.
