BIODYNAMIC VEG BAG SCHEME

We are committed to supplying our local area with high quality, fresh vegetables that are produced in a socially and environmentally responsible manner.
Amazingingly tasty and fresh biodynamic vegetables are grown on our two-acre vegetable garden within the 210 acres of biodynamic/organic certified land at Lauriston Farm, utilising a sustainable, low carbon method. The soil is fed from our own compost comprising animal manures and plants. Water comes from a borehole on the farm. The diversity of plants, wildlife and farm animals surrounding the garden and the many different crops, herbs and flowers in the garden make it a place of abundance and beauty. The biodynamic preparations help to improve the health, quality and taste as does working closely to the rhythms of the moon, planets and constellations. We use polytunnels to extend the growing season and grow crops like tomatoes, peppers and aubergines. The garden and box-scheme are managed by Andre and Monique Kleinjans, with the help of many volunteers and social farming students. |
The Crops
All crops are grown from certified biodynamic and organic seeds and are mainly older varieties which are less uniform but good in taste and are quite different from supermarket vegetables. The variety is based on what we can grow on the farm with most crops grown outside except for some which are grown in our large polytunnel. Each year we plant many varieties of lettuce, potatoes, leeks, garlic, broccoli, spinach, beetroot, carrots, beans, celery, pumpkins, tomatoes, cucumbers, aubergines and much more.
With some of the more unusual vegetables, we like to add some recipe suggestions.
Please note that leafy vegetables are sprayed with water but not washed.

The Bags: 2024 prices
Small - designed for one to two people, the bags have 6-7 seasonal vegetables in with at least one salad item - £18/bag
Fresh and Fine – designed 2-3 people, the bag contains 7-8 items of seasonal vegetables with the emphasize on the smaller and tenderest items and quick to prepare vegetables - £20/bag
Large – designed for up to 4 people, the bag contains 8-9 seasonal items in larger portions with everything the garden has to offer - £25/bag
Eggs - why not add a box of 6 free-range biodynamic eggs to your veg bag @ £3.20

When is it available? We deliver every week from mid June until Christmas. Starting 19 June..
Delivery.
a) Pick up from Manningtree Wholefood Store
b) Pick up from Colcheco Refill Store
c) Pick up from Chelmsford
d) We deliver to CM9 postcodes
Delivery day. Thursdays.
Changing bag contents. The bags are standard bags and are harvested and packed in one go. We are not able to take specific orders. We can however leave out 1 type of vegetable and put something else of our choice instead so please let us know if there is something you do not eat when you start with the bags.
Packaging. We deliver the vegetables in organic cotton bags which we ask you to return when we deliver as they are washed at the farm for reusing. We use either compostable plastic or paper bags.
Payment. Once you have signed up to Ooooby and entered your card details, payment will be deducted automatically each week.
Cancelling. If you want to cancel your delivery while you are on holiday or change the bag size, we need at least 2 weeks notice. Please send an e-mail with the days you are away to [email protected]. We are unable to refund payments if bags are not cancelled in advance - maybe you can pass the bag on to a friend or neighbour if you are unexpectedly unable to use it.
